I fell in love for first time at the ripe old age of 12. She was petite, easy on the eyes, with a body that was built for holding. Her name was "Baby Brownie," and even 50 years later the mere mention of her name makes my heart go a flutter. As all fickle males, I have moved on from one manufactured body to the next -- Minolta, Nikon, Bronica, Canon -- but I can still remember the thrill the first time I pressed her button, and pressed it again and again.
I still remember the feeling I had when I got back my first roll of film and how incredible was my realization that I had joined the ranks of photographers such as Mathew Brady, Ansel Adams, and Issy Cohen. I had frozen 12 moments in time, which could never be repeated again. The image on the prints would never change, but the subjects would.
I purchased my first 35mm camera while serving in Vietnam. Upon returning to civilian life, I assisted two of the best fashion and commercial photographers in Miami Florida. During the late 70's and early 80's, I spent time both behind the camera and in front of the camera. In 1980 I had the opportunity to use my photographic skills to work a case for a civil attorney. This lead to a 32 year career as a cold case investigator and photographer for insurance companies. In 2005 after spending 26 years traveling 50 weeks a year, I retired and returned full time to my true passion photography, but this time in Southern California.
Equipment has evolved and become more sophisticated, but I am still capturing moments in time, painted by light. I treat every picture as if it will be the last picture I will take, because one of these days it will be. I threat every client as the most important client I will ever have. My style of photography is photojournalism, with each frame telling part of your life's history.
